Inside Sex and the City 2

I am going to see the movie tomorrow night with girlfriends & cannot wait! If you like what you see on the outside (outfits, accessories), then take a look at a few photos of inside the homes on SATC. Elle Decor is giving a sneek peek on the interior design. See below:

My Love for Trays

I love the many purposes of a tray. First, I love tray tables. I bought this tray table (below) at HomeGoods in the bath section about 8 months ago for $40. It is very similar (I'd say 100% similar) to one by Jonathan Adler for $595!!! I've seen tray tables being used as a coffee table, for bath towels, books, food, to hold alcohol & barware.
My tray table for $40:
Jonathan Adler's tray table for $595:
I also love using different trays throughout the house for the same purposes as above. It is also especially useful when you have a large ottoman for a coffee table and need a stable surface to hold drinks, etc. I use a tray when we entertain buffet style to hold condiments. I also use another larger tray to hold magazines, one to hold cookbooks in the kitchen, another to either put on our ottoman when watching TV or, when not in use, put on our console table. Below are some fun & stylish options at various prices:
Jonathan Adler: Lacquer Tray Table $395
Love the pop of orange- one of many colors.
Crate & Barrel: Samba Tray $24.95
Love the bright colors these trays would add to a space!
Crate & Barrel: Acacia Tray $32.95
Love the natural wood of this one!
West Elm: Round Laquer Tray $22-$59
West Elm: Butler Tray & Stand $59-$179
These tray actually detaches from the stand, which is very convenient when serving:
Pier 1: Faux Crocodile Tray $15
Love the rich look of the bronze
An inexpensive option :)
Target: Mirrored Tray $30
Love the mirrored look!

Island Living

I love anything that has to do with the beach. These photos of island living from Coastal Living's website capture me. I would love to wake up every morning to the sound of the ocean! Summer vacations at the beach will have to suffice for now. :) Enjoy!

I love the poster bed with the sheer fabric draping the sides. The painted white floor & bedding makes the room appear larger.
An alternative to a poster bed is hanging a mosquito net (or fabric) from the ceiling, as pictured below. Love how they brought the outside in with the leaves and natural rug.
Love the splash of turquoise! Beautiful scenery with the surrounding plants.
Mosaic tile with island colors for back splash:
Love the grouping of mirrors over each side table. Very dramatic.
Love the all-white bathroom with black windows. Such a calming effect!

Loving Our New Chair!

I'm very excited about my new chair purchase yesterday at Homegoods. My husband & I had been wanting to get a new chair for our front room- something sleek, but comfortable for watching TV alongside the couch. This is my favorite room so I wanted the chair to look good in the room. I had hoped to find a new rug at Homegoods, and I did; however, after bringing it home I realized the 5x8 is too small and we actually need an 8x10 for our great room. I shopped the furniture section and found this chair and it was love at first sight. I love that the seat is wider than most chairs, and the fabric is a soft velvet. The color is a light blue/gray and goes so well with the dark brown legs. The color goes well with the colors of the room (white, blues, and purples). I also love that it is armless. The chair was $150, but the manager gave me 10% off for small (unnoticeable) scratches on the back legs. It was a successful shopping trip!

In the store:
 In our Front Room:
Now, I just need a colorful pillow and a foot stool or ottoman to put our feet on.

This was the rug I bought & was inspired by the red in the cafe from my recent post. We have hardwood floors and brown furniture and I love how the red would add a pop of color. Hoping to find the rug in an 8x10 at another HGs. Plus, for the 5x8 it was only $50!!

I've been wanting this rug from West Elm, but it is on backorder until August. I'm hoping they will get new rugs in soon, or I hope to find the red rug in an 8x10 for a much cheaper price at Homegoods!!

Window Shopping

I was visiting Georgetown this weekend and took some photos while I window shopped on Wisconsin Avenue. It was a Sunday morning so the stores weren't open, which was probably a good thing! I started with a flea market that I was excited to discover.

A lot of the furniture reminded me of the post I did a while back on French-inspired pieces, such as this couch below:
I love the detail on the back of these chairs:
These pink flowers made me smile. So pretty!
I fell in love with this blue door. So often I see red doors and this blue is a refreshing change. I love how it looks against the soft gray of the house:
Love this porch & the hanging flowers:
Love the lime green exterior:
My favorite place on the street! I love the red planters & bench on the exterior. Peering into the window & seeing a fabulous red chandelier, I had to go in & see the entire space.
Interior:
Modern seating with white corner seats & a natural hardwood floor:
I love these tree stumps with a glass table top, which are used throughout:
Sugar caddy!
The fabulous red chandelier!!
Love the white on brick & I want this wall art for my home!
Bringing the natural wood to the walls, and another seating area:
This looks like a simple project and a creative use for a coffee table inside or outside your home:
Outside seating area: I would love to drink coffee here every morning! I love the rustic feeling that is present throughout the space & mixed with the modern furniture & decor.
Yet another seating area with glossy red chairs and bamboo along the wall:
This space has given me inspiration for my home. I emailed the owner to ask about the furniture pieces and the wall art. I am loving this indoor & outdoor space!

This house stood out on the corner with the unique white windows, painted brick, and the black shutters:

I hope you enjoyed my window shopping as much as I did!
